A cuzzo shared this old mixtape track from high school and I was cringing HARD lol UNTIL I saw the one comment from my brotha Cam 💜
In 5th grade we shared our music dreams & would spend hours writing and trying to record on tape recorders. And through all the distance and crazy lives we were living as we got older, it was always all love. Just like this comment on some random repost channel’s video that I never even seen before…. Rest easy, ciyé 💜 RIP - I needed to see that today.

Saw this shared from @gptlhb ‘s fb page and just wanted to say Aké Wopila tanka for having me. To be able to share my story with mental health, anxiety & depression through the music was a big privilege. I’ve spent so many years, since middle school, recording my feelings & aspiring with hip hop, it felt really good to put it to something like this. & also to share space with the artists like that. To be able to perform in front of and hear Mylo, who’s been repping Crow Creek for a longgg time, say “I’m proud of you, bro” meant a lot. On that note, when I was a little guy my dad worked with the UND INPSYDE program for high school students in the summer, and I met Brandon Ecoffey there who was attending it. It’s meant more than I can say for him to have reached out and also affirmed me that I belonged there. Wopila.
Next stop, May 25th in support of Rock The Rez!!!!

Today is the day! Lakota Art Day is happening at both Racing Magpie in Rapid City & at Oglala Lakota Artspace just between Little Wound & Sharp’s Corner across from OLC. Open Mic & Performances at both locations! I’ll be performing at OLA with Santee Luke Witt, Cat Clifford & Pte San Win Rose who will be co-hosting the open mic & performances starting at 4 & 5pm. Wherever you go, have a good one! 💜

Wopila aké @gptlhb & to the folks who came for the two different performances today! I’m grateful to have gotten to be a part of this. Wopida @mylosmithcomedy too man, it felt really really good to hear him say “I’m proud of you, bro” after I performed. He’s been out there repping Crow Creek for so long, I remember when he came to Saint Francis when I was a freshman there and even then I admired his fearless way of staying true to his craft and art esp as a performer.
I’m so grateful to the community and youth who wanted photos and autographs. I did songs today I honestly was so nervous to do, and nothings guaranteed in life, I’m blessed they enjoyed it 💜🙏
Wopila Karen Eagle for sharing the photos on fb and @kijagotdatfire for the vid clip post

Tomorrow! In the morning I’m presenting/performing my story with suicide, depression and panic disorder, and how music, prayer, help and trying to grow a Dakota mindset in my own way helped me through that (and still helps me as I continue to heal).
I keep crying when practicing this set, a lot of songs I didn’t want to do but feel I have to in this moment, it’s all for a good thing.
The HERO Conference is an all day youth conference covering important topics with many great presenters, performers, musicians etc there and I’m happy & grateful to be there with them. Wopila @ecoffeyb @badfacemedia & @gptlhb for the invitation 💜🙏

Excited for this next week!
April 24th, at @gptlhb ‘s HERO Conference in Rapid City, I’ll be performing and presenting about suicide and mental health in the morning, and I think there’ll be another to follow in the evening.
April 25th, #OglalaLakotaArtspace and @racingmagpie are hosting Lakota Art Day. I’ll be performing a set at the OLA location, including some unreleased stuff! There’s performances at both locations for this one and I love that!
Random question, out of curiosity, what’s a song of mine you would want to hear live, if any?

Very excited that this year the #WicahpiOlowanMusicProgram will be joining Lakota Art Day programming again, this time in both locations!! @racingmagpie in Rapid City & #OglalaLakotaArtspace in Little Wound
Both will have an open mic, and then check out performances in Mni Luzahan by @banz_beats & @cranstonjoel_ ! Over at OLA, @mintytealove @santeewitt @catlinclifford & myself will be capping the day off there. I’ve been asked by @keith.braveheart to perform this year, so I’ll even be painting up rq for this one, a first at OLA for me (also just to be transparent, I’m donating this one, as I’m an employee 😃 - I’m excited to finally perform a real set at OLA!)
#WicahpiOlowan is a @1stpeoplesfund program in partnership with @playingforchangefoundation - Wopila for making this possible!

Very excited to present/perform at HERO again this year! I’ve been asked to talk about and perform my songs relating to suicide and mental health, April 24th 9:45am at the Double Tree. If you’ve followed my work & journey, esp before 2017 then you know how close I am to that topic. It’s why I am who I am and do what I do. I’ve struggled with it, spoke about it, rapped about it, for better or for worse. I don’t advertise myself as a speaker for this, but when the opportunities come in to talk to our ppl and to the youth about it especially, I’m extremely grateful to step into that & share my story once more. I hope whoever’s there gets something good out of whatever I do onstage.
Wopida @gptlhb for the invite!

Making beats during lunch break. Still going heavy with the video game samples, it’s been too long & I haven’t been on the MPC much lately in general. Paired with this warm spring weather 💜🙏
